AGM Update
Status
Due to the increase in Coronavirus cases we have decided to hold the AGM at Cofton Hackett Village Hall and not the room in the Generous George.
Date is Sunday, 24 April at 4.00pm.
The Boardwalk
When CLCL first purchased the lake and land 16 years ago, Mr Sandy who owned the 3 acre site on the west side of the lake was thrilled we had been successful in securing the site and stopping potential property investors from building on it. Mr Sandy phoned me to say he wanted his land known as Muriel’s Marsh after his dear wife, donated to CLCL on condition that it always be known as Muriel’s Marsh and none of the land ever to be sold or given away.
Unfortunately Mr Sandy passed away before the final contracts were signed. Two years ago his nephew who had inherited the site contacted CLCL and wanted his uncle’s wishes to be carried out.
And so Muriel’s Marsh is now part of CLCL land and has been registered with the Land Registry, being kept as a Conservation area for members to enjoy for years to come.
May we also say how thrilled we are about the path that is being formed through Muriel’s Marsh. It is a bit like carving a way through the jungle, and is a mammoth task. Everyone concerned deserves the warm thanks of all whom like us, will benefit enormously from it once it is fully completed.
CLCL Member
Bridges have been built over the swamp, a 70m boardwalk erected on the south side and pathways cleared. Most of this work has been carried out by volunteers from CLCL and White Swan Piscatorials. If anyone has a few hours to spare please get in touch with one of the committee.
Algae Update
Blue/Green algae has been found in the lake. Please keep dogs out of the water.
