The fishing club have advised us that it is possible that a small patch of blue/green algae is lurking around the boathouse area. We are in the process of having this checked out, and to be on the safe side notices will be erected and the Environmental Agency informed. Meanwhile will you please ensure that no fishing takes place in this area and all pets are kept out of the water.

Thanks, Simon.
From my understanding, algae of this type can act as a curtain over the surface of the water, preventing light from reaching anything below. Potentially, it could kill any vegetation and the fish then. If Cofton Lake is a conservation project then it becomes quite a concern.
Perhaps an explanation as to why this is a major concern, would be in order? Not all of us are fishermen.
